Hopkins Professors Receive NIH Big Data to Knowledge Initiative Award

Professor Brian Caffo, IDIES Member-at-Large Roger Peng, and several other co-investigators, have received a grant under the NIH Big Data to Knowledge (BD2K) Initiative for their proposal Big Data education for the masses: MOOCs, modules, & intelligent tutoring systems. The NIH describes BD2K as “a trans-NIH initiative established to enable biomedical research as a digital research enterprise, to facilitate discovery and support new knowledge, and to maximize community engagement”. Caffo and Peng are professors in Department of Biostatistics, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Caffo and his co-investigators received their award from the Development of Big Data Courses and Open Educational Resources BD2K Group.
