Steven Salzberg, IDIES Associate Director and Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, and Biostatistics in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, was nominated for “outstanding contributions to computational genomics, including pioneering methods for gene finding, whole-genome assembly, and analysis of next-generation sequencing data” last week in Washington D.C. by the the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. Professor Salzberg joins eight other Whiting School of Engineering faculty members in being inducted into AIMBE’s 2017 College of Fellows. The College of Fellows comprises the top 2% of our country’s biological and medical engineers, and members are regularly recognized for their contributions in research, innovation, and teaching.
